Affirmations

An affirmation are the thoughts or sayings that a person has that are conscious. They make a person conscious of their thoughts. An example of one would be, ""I love and accept myself exactly as I am". I think that having these affirmations are good because it helps you be more positive throughout your day. If you keep your mind flowing with positive affirmations, there will be less room for negativity.

Carreer Exploration

My three career choices for this project are a psychologist, cosmetologist and lastly a nurse. For the most part I know that I want to be some type of psychologist. But sometimes I have doubts about it because I know there's going to be a lot of schooling to complete. But I know its a field that I'm really interested in. In order to be a psychologist, It is suggested to get either a maters degree or bachelors degree. I also need to have a certificate in psychology. I don't necessarily have to have an undergraduate major in psychology. But that's the route that I'm taking so far. I feel that this career will support the lifestyle that I want to live. Psychologists get paid a pretty good salary. For me, I really have a passion for this career, so the fact that they get paid a reasonable amount is good. I know there's many other jobs that pay better but psychology is what I'm interested in. I feel that along my journey of becoming a psychologist I may get overwhelmed at times but at the end it will be worth it. I just have to work hard for it.

Interviews

In the interviews I think that I did a pretty good job. I feel that I did a good job in making a first impression. When I introduced myself I made sure that I smiled and pronounced my name clearly. I was also relaxed and tried to be myself. I did well at being open and honest with her. Something that I could have done better is actually prepare for the interview. I didn't go overthrown questions the day before. I just went in with the advice that I Got from allow the guest speakers. This activity was useful because it gave envy one experience for when we have to have a real job interview. I know that these tips will always stick with me. It was helpful as well because it gave great advice of the things to do and not to do in the business world.

Scott

When I looked up Scott Silverman online the most interesting thing that I found was his Second Chance program. I like how he set out to help people in need because that's what I want to do in the future. I like how he had the determination to help people. He now has a business that's been thriving for many years and I think he has a lot to be proud of.

Film Festival

This past Sunday I went to attend the Film Festival. I saw Filly Brown.

I had no idea what the movie would be about. Looking back, I probably should have looked the movie up before I went to see it. But overall I really liked the movie. The big message that I got from it was to never forget where you came from and that family is important. I thought of the theme being family because of the last scene in the movie when they were visiting the mom in jail. I like the fact that Filly Brown was compassionate about her mom although her mom had did a lot of bad things in her past. She was a good person and I think she's most of the reason why her family stuck together. She valued her family and wanted to help out her mother and do whatever it took to get money for her. I'd watch the movie again but overall I think it gave a really good message.

Tell me more about yourself?
I am a student at Mesa College but I also attend City College. I am a hard-working student, as well as a hardworking employee. I'm punctual, reliable and honest.


What can you do for this company?
I am an honest girl, and I will be devoted to the company. I can bring my positive attitude with me everyday and assist customers in any way possible.


Why did you apply for this position?
I applied because I like interacting with people. I love helping people when it comes to community service, so I think that this position would be good for me.

Bad Customer Service

A bad customer service experience that I've had was when I went to a Beauty Supply store. The store employees were 2 Vietnamese people. I think they were husband and wife. But I was with my little brother, Edward, and my friend Quanita. We all walked in and were looking around and we noticed that the husband was following us. I asked him why he was following us.
He said, "Because your going to steal."
I said, "So just because we're black, you think we're going to steal?"
He than said that he was going to call the police. We didn't really care that he was going to call the police because we weren't in the wrong. But we just left anyway.

I think we handled the situation okay. We didn't cuss out the man or do anything disrespectful. So I think we handled it well. But as far as the Beauty Supply place, I felt that I never wanted to go there again. I think that instead of judging us because we were black, the man should have just asked us if we needed help.
